Robbie Farah will be at South Sydney next year, with coach Michael Maguire rejecting claims the NRL club may offload the veteran hooker.

Maguire said Farah will see out his two-year contract, signed at the end of last year after his departure from the Wests Tigers.

"No, Robbie has a contract here next year," Maguire told reporters when asked if Farah was being shopped around.

Former NSW hooker Farah has started 12 of his 23 games this season on the bench behind Damien Cook, including the last six matches.

Maguire said the 33-year-old was helping Cook fast-track his improvement.

"A lot of people probably have Robbie wrong. He's been fantastic for us ... He's been excellent for Damien Cook," Maguire said.

"I'm sure he'd like to play more time. But at the moment, we see the fit of how we've been going has been working for us ... Cookie's been able to play some good football."

The Rabbitohs sit 11th ahead of their last-round clash against the finals-bound Parramatta.

Lining up for the Eels will be former Souths forward Nathan Brown, who's found career-best form since being squeezed out of Redfern at the end of last season.

Lock forward Brown has starred to win Parramatta's player of the year award, with Maguire attributing salary cap restrictions to his departure.

"I think Browny left and got himself into really good shape and obviously he's playing some really good football off the back of that," he said.

"Salary cap becomes a part of what goes on in decision making in clubs.

"It is tough. Obviously every club goes through it.

"But I think it's a good reflection of the club as well that we've been able to build a number of players who have left this club and performed well.

"You'd like to be able to keep them all, but obviously the game doesn't allow you to do that through the rules."
