James Faulkner's Test recall leaves a big hole in Tasmania's one-day line-up, state teammate George Bailey says.

Allrounder Faulkner was on Thursday named as a replacement for injured paceman Pat Cummins for the upcoming two-Test tour of Bangladesh.

"Losing someone of the calibre or quality of James Faulkner will be a challenge for us," Bailey said of the Tigers' prospects for October's one-day domestic cup.

"He's someone who's really pivotal for us with the bat and the ball so when you're taking a guy who ultimately almost plays the role of two players in the side, it take some re-jigging around who's going to fill those roles."

Tasmania's campaign starts on October 5 against Queensland.
