Fawad Ahmad granted sponsor exemption

Australian cricketer Fawad Ahmed will not wear the Victoria Bitter beer logo on his uniform for this week's 'VB Tour of England', sponsored by Carlton United Brewery, as his religious beliefs do not permit alcohol consumption.

It's one of the first such cases of an Australian cricketer refusing to wear a sponsor logo.

However, South African batsman Hashim Amla has previously refused to wear an alcohol logo on his shirt, and in the English Premier League, Papiss Cisse recently caused controversy by refusing to wear the logo of a pay-day loan centre.
