Federal government vows to stamp out bullying

The federal government has called on teachers, students, parents and psychologists to share their experiences with school bullying.

Federal Education Minister Peter Garrett has hosted a national forum dealing with the prevalent issue.

One in four Australians kids is bullied by the time they are in Year 10. The government wants to create new initiatives to slash the incidents of schoolyard bullying.

But it admits it's falling behind, with social media presenting new forms of online bullying not yet recognised in legislation.
