Federal Labor's achievements were lost on voters because the government was like a "toxic soap opera", Victoria's Labor leader says.
Daniel Andrews says it is clear many strong ALP supporters were blinded to the good things Labor did because of its dysfunction and disunity.
"If you can't govern yourself, then the people of Victoria and the people of Australia will not choose you to govern for them," he told reporters on Monday.
"Over the last six years, sadly the federal parliamentary Labor party have resembled a toxic soap opera unable to unite behind one leader, unable to exercise the discipline and the focus that is necessary.
"That's sad but that's the fact and we as a Labor party and a Labor movement need to face up to that."

Mr Andrews says he hopes and expects his counterparts in Canberra will ensure the party's achievements are never again ignored because of infighting.
"Every single member of the parliamentary Labor party has to take responsibility for the fact that many of their achievements were lost," he says.
"The people of Australia and Victoria could not see past the division and the disunity and I don't blame them for it."
