Federal police restrict access to firearms

The AFP is restricting officer access to firearms as the force tries to tackle mental health issues among its members.

The Australian Federal Police is restricting its officers' access to firearms after the suicides of four members in two years.

AFP Commissioner Andrew Colvin is trying to get on the front foot in tackling the mental health issues confronting his officers.

"There is no one thing that will solve what is a complex problem but we have made changes to our firearms access policies," Mr Colvin told the ABC.
