RECORDS FALL AS ROGER FEDERER CLAIMS 2017 AUSTRALIAN OPEN TITLE:
* The 2017 Australian Open title is Federer's 18th major crown - four more than any other man - and came in his 28th grand slam decider, another record
* The 18th slam brings Federer level with Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova on the mixed-gender all-time slam winners list
* He becomes the first man in history to win three of the slams - Australian Open (5 times), Wimbledon (7), US Open (5) - at least five times
* In claiming a fifth Australian Open, Federer takes sole occupancy of third place in the Open's all-time winners list, behind six-time winners Novak Djokovic and Roy Emerson
* At 35 years of age, he is the oldest winner in 45 years, since Australia's Ken Rosewall in 1972
* The Swiss ends a five-year drought for a major success - since Wimbledon 2012
