Female police officer choked, two others attacked on Brisbane street

Five people have been charged with serious assault after three police patrol officers were brutally attacked, with one being female officer being choked on a suburban Brisbane street.

Two officers spoke to the group in Osborne Street, Mitchelton shortly before midnight after they had been asked to leave a nearby pub.

Police say the group became hostile and attacked a 35-year-old female senior constable, who was choked until she almost lost consciousness.
The group also assaulted a 36-year-old male colleague, as well as a 25-year-old female constable who arrived as part of a back-up patrol.

All three officers were taken to St Andrews Hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

Three men and two women, aged between 23 and 31, have each been charged with two counts of serious assault, and will face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
