Fenech's intimidation case withdrawn

Jeff Fenech will plead guilty to disrupting a NSW Crime Commission hearing, a Sydney court has been told.

Former boxing world champion Jeff Fenech will no longer face a charge of intimidating a senior barrister during a NSW Crime Commission hearing, a Sydney court has been told.

The 52-year-old will instead plead guilty to the less serious charge of disrupting the hearing held last November, his lawyer Danny Eid told the Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday.

Judge Graeme Henson adjourned the matter to July 25 when the more serious charge will be withdrawn, the parties will submit agreed facts on the case, and he will be sentenced.

Fenech, who was not present in court on Tuesday as he was legally represented, was accused of intimidating Assistant Commissioner Peter Bodor QC who was presiding over the private hearing and of disrupting the proceedings.

Mr Eid told Judge Henson he had made representations to the Director of Public Prosecutions about dropping the first charge and admitting the disruption offence.
