The white police officer who shot dead an unarmed black teenager in the US town of Ferguson says he has a "clean conscience" and would do the same thing again.
Darren Wilson, 28, said he feared for his life before he drew his gun - the first time he had used his firearm on the job - before opening fire, killing 18-year-old Michael Brown.
"The reason I have a clean conscience is because I know I did my job right," Wilson told ABC News on Tuesday, speaking publicly for the first time since the August 9 shooting.
"I don't think it's haunting. It's always going to be something that happened."
When asked if it would have ended the same way if Brown was white, Wilson answered: "Yes ... no question."

He described Brown as a "powerful man", comparing him to professional wrestler Hulk Hogan.
"He charged me, he was going to kill me," he said.
Wilson said he feared Brown would get hold of his gun and said he acted out of self-defence.
"I gave myself another mental check. Can I shoot this guy? Legally, can I? And the question that I answered to myself was, 'I have to'."
Wilson said he and his new wife are now hoping to resume their routine: "We just want to have a normal life. That's it."
On Monday, a grand jury decided not to indict Wilson, sparking a night of rioting in Ferguson, a mainly black town of 21,000 with a mostly white police force.
The jury concluded Wilson had acted lawfully in firing 12 shots at Brown after he first reached into the officer's car to grapple with him, then turned on him as he gave chase.
Wilson said he felt he was authorised to use force against Brown after the teenager punched him twice in the face, according to released grand jury evidence.
Wilson said he went for his gun because he thought that a third punch from Brown could have "knocked me out or worse".
Wilson compared Brown to a demon during a struggle at Wilson's car. Despite Wilson's size - 1.9m and 95kg - he said that when grappling with Brown, he "felt like a five-year-old holding on to Hulk Hogan".
After Wilson tried to get out, and Brown slammed the door on him twice, Wilson said Brown punched him twice in the face.
Wilson pulled his gun, and said he warned Brown, "Get back or I'm going to shoot you." Brown, he said, then grabbed his gun and said, "You are too much of a (expletive) to shoot me."
During a struggle for the gun, Wilson said Brown tried to pull the trigger as the gun was against Wilson's hip. Wilson pushed the gun away and fired twice, causing Brown to run away.
Wilson followed, and claimed that he ordered Brown to "get on the ground" twice.
He began shooting after Brown stopped, turned and began coming for Wilson, with his left hand clenched at his side and his right hand under his shirt, at his waistband.
But Brown instead "made like a grunting, like aggravated sound and he starts, he turns and he's coming back towards me".
He said he began backpedalling as Brown kept coming.
Wilson said that he fired a series of shots again, and Brown flinched again.
"At this point it looked like he was almost bulking up to run through the shots, like it was making him mad that I'm shooting at him. And the face that he had was looking straight through me, like I wasn't even there, I wasn't even anything in his way."
Wilson said that he was still backing up and Brown was 2.4m to 3m away when he began leaning forward as if he was going to tackle him.
He saw the final, fatal shot hit Brown, and said, "the demeanour on his face went blank, the aggression was gone" as Brown fell on his face and his momentum caused his feet to fly up in the air.
