Sydney Roosters' NRL grand-final bravery seemingly has no bounds, after it was revealed winger Blake Ferguson played on in the second half with a suspected broken leg.

With Cooper Cronk's effort to play through a fractured scapula already the stuff of legend, Ferguson arrived at the Roosters' fan reception on Monday morning on crutches and in a moon boot following their 21-6 defeat of Melbourne.

Ferguson was injured early in the second half but stayed on the field to finish with 161 metres and become just the third player to pass the 5000-mark in a season and claim his first premiership.

Ferguson attempted to play down the injury as a bit of "carry on" in front of fans on Monday, but coach Trent Robinson revealed the true extent of his effort to play on.

"He's broken his leg, his fibula," Robinson told AAP.

"It was quite sore but then after the game the longer it went the sorer it got. It went numb and that's when they knew he broke it

Bound for Parramatta next year, Ferguson's grand-final win brought with it his first premiership - a proud achievement considering he was taken on by the Roosters in 2015 following a year-and-a-half out of the game after being sacked by Canberra.

"We are going to talk about Cooper, but again it was Fergo and he didn't care," Robinson said.

"Obviously after the game it was such a big result for all of us, but Fergo has worked really hard for this his whole career.

"He's had ups and downs and it was almost fitting he had something like that and pushed his way through to get the result."

Ferguson struggled up the stairs in front of Allianz Stadium on Monday morning, before players retired to inside the ground to celebrate one last time before it is rebuilt.

"It was definitely worth it, it's all a bit of carry on as usual," Ferguson said of the injury.

"This club has been amazing to me. They brought me in in 2014 and I was just really grateful for what they gave me.

"I'm just really glad I can leave ... On a good note."

Meanwhile Robinson also revealed on Monday forward Zane Tetevano had ruptured his bicep, which will require surgery and likely be an issue into the pre-season.
