Fewer jobs to be lost after Holden closure

The South Australian government says fewer jobs than first thought will be lost in the auto supply chain after the closure of Holden.

Diversification by supply chain companies will dramatically cut the number of jobs lost in the automotive sector when car producer Holden closes on Friday, the South Australian government says.

Manufacturing Minister Kyam Maher says two years ago less than one-third of supplier companies expected their operations to continue after Holden shut down its assembly line in Adelaide.

"It's now about 75 per cent that are still around and have diversified and will be around after Holden," Mr Maher said on Monday.
