The young football team trapped inside a Thai cave have been promised tickets to the World Cup final if they make it out in time.

The schoolboys and their coach have been trapped inside the cave in Chiang Rai, Thailand for almost two weeks.

On Friday FIFA president Gianni Infantino made the gesture in "message of support and solace".

He said FIFA had been waiting "anxiously" to hear the outcome of the rescue operation currently underway in Chiang Rai.

The boys have been trapped inside the cave since June 23.
"On behalf of the football community, I would like to join you in expressing my deepest sympathies and support to the families of the players and coach, as well as my solidarity with the people of Thailand at this time of great concern," Infantino wrote.

"We hope that in some way, our words of support may help bring them a little peace and courage in these difficult moments of uncertainty and concern".

He said if the group are reunited with their families in coming days and their health allows them to travel to Moscow, FIFA would like them to attend the World Cup final as their guests.

It's understood the boys inside the cave have asked assisting Navy Seals who are taking care of them for updates about World Cup results.

FIFA sent the letter to the president of the Football Association of Thailand.
