Fiji golf tournament added to EPGA Tour

The European Tour has added the Fiji International golf tournament to the schedule for 2016.

The Fiji International golf tournament has been added to the European Tour schedule for 2016.

It's a move which provided golfers with a potential choice between the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship or a `working holiday' on the South Pacific island.

The event will be staged from October 6-9 and co-sanctioned by the European Tour and the PGA Tour of Australasia.

"One of the key drawcards of the Fiji International is in fact Fiji as a destination. Players are able to bring their families to enjoy a holiday whilst they compete in a world-class tournament," said Brian Thorburn, chief executive of the PGA of Australia, which oversees the PGA Tour of Australasia.

A minimum of 59 players will come from both the PGA Tour of Australasia and the European Tour, with eight tournament invites and six places set aside for Fijian players via qualifying events.
