Fiji wing Nayacalevu out of World Cup

A knee injury suffered during Fiji's 28-13 loss to Australia has forced Fiji winger Waisea Nayacalevu out of the Rugby World cup.

Winger Waisea Nayacalevu has been forced to withdraw from Fiji's squad at the Rugby World Cup because of a knee injury on Wednesday in the 28-13 loss to Australia.

Fiji coach John McKee said Nayacalevu will return to his Stade Francais club for treatment and rehabilitation.

No timeline on his return to action was given.

He was replaced in the squad by Timoci Nagusa, who plays at Montpellier.

McKee said scrumhalf Nikola Matawalu, who suffered bruising to his lower back against Australia, is expected to be available for their next Pool A game against Wales at Millennium Stadium on Thursday.

With a tournament-opening loss to England, Fiji was likely out of quarter-final contention.
