The lead vocalist of the Western Desert's Warumpi Band died from lung cancer in June 2007, at the age of 50.
The Warumpi Band was formed in the early 80s, and was the first group to release a rock and roll song in an Aboriginal language. They also toured remote communities drawing a loyal audience.
