Final day of WA state election campaign

Premier Colin Barnett and Labor leader Mark McGowan have made their final bids to West Australians after five weeks campaigning, as the state gears up to vote.

FINAL DAY OF THE WA ELECTION CAMPAIGN

WHERE THEY CAMPAIGNED

* Premier Colin Barnett held his last press conference in his private courtyard at parliament, in Liberal-held Perth (2.8 per cent)

* Labor leader Mark McGowan was in Kwinana, Labor-held by 4.3 per cent

HIGHLIGHTS

* Mr Barnett said it was a 'ugly, nasty end to the campaign' after letters containing death threats were sent to the homes of Liberal candidates

* Mr Barnett blasted Labor's costings, saying they were a joke and an insult to economists and excluded promises worth hundreds of million of dollars

* Mr McGowan was joined by 'mentor', former Federal Labor leader Kim Beazley, touring Civmec in Henderson

* Federal Labor leader Bill Shorten landed in Perth for a last-minute show of support

* One Nation candidate for Scarborough Margaret Dodd quit the party, describing it as an unprofessional 'dictatorship' being used for Senator Hanson's personal power

* Ms Hanson evaded the media in the morning, failing to show at planned appearances before popping up again in the afternoon

* Mr Barnett said the first thing he would do if re-elected would be to bring in 9am Sunday training

QUOTES

* "I'm very, very proud of the campaign and I'm confident we have done our best over the course of it. We have a mountain to climb still; there's still 10 seats on a 10 per cent margin. It has never ever been done in Western Australia before. So for us to win, it's like climbing Mount Everest." - Mark McGowan

* "It's an insult to any commentator, any economist, any analyst, any journalist - you are being absolutely taken for a ride. This is not properly put together, it has no financial standing ... this is what Mark McGowan has done. He is a fraud." - Colin Barnett

* "It's time for a change in Western Australia, it's time for a fresh start." - Mark McGowan

* "Please don't vote for a return to dullsville because that is what you will get under Labor." - Colin Barnett
