WORLD FINANCE UPDATE:
The Australian dollar is softer ahead of crucial Chinese economic growth numbers.
At 0700 AEDT on Tuesday, the local unit was trading at 68.61 US cents, down from 68.99 cents on Monday.
And the Australian share market looks set to open lower following falls on Asian and European markets as fears for global economic growth persist and the price of oil continues to fall.
At 0645 AEDT on Tuesday, the share price index was down 35 points at 4,782.
