Finch signs for Surrey again in T20 Blast

Surrey have re-signed Australian batsman Aaron Finch for England's 2017 T20 Blast.

Australian batsman Aaron Finch has re-signed with Surrey for the 2017 T20 Blast in England.

The former Australian Twenty20 captain played for Surrey in this year's competition, forming a dangerous opening partnership with England batsman Jason Roy, although they could not steer their team past the group phase.

The 30-year-old Finch, a noted big hitter, will be available for the entire competition and will also provide cover for Kumar Sangakkara in the County Championship when the Sri Lankan plays in the Caribbean Premier League from June 29 to August 7.

Finch, instrumental in Australia winning last year's 50-over World Cup, scored 259 runs in six T20 innings for Surrey and averaged 48.66 across six championship innings, including hitting his first ball for the club in any format out of the ground for six.

"We are very pleased to welcome Finchy back to the Kia Oval after his positive impact on and off the field last season," Surrey director of cricket Alec Stewart told the club's website.

"He remains one of the most-destructive batsmen in world cricket and I'm sure our members and supporters will enjoy watching him again."

The group stage of next year's T20 Blast runs from July 7 to August 18, with the quarter-finals August 22-25 and finals on September 2.
