Finch unable to save Lions in IPL clash

Royal Challengers Bangalore have crushed the Gujarat Lions by 144 runs, despite a top score of 37 from Aaron Finch.

Aaron Finch top scored for Gujarat Lions, but was unable to save them from a huge 144-run Indian Premier League defeat to home side Royal Challengers Bangalore at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

After Bangalore set a massive target of 3-248, courtesy of top knocks from Virat Kohli (109) and AB de Villiers (129), they were all over the Lions batsmen in the second innings.

Finch was the only batsman to offer any resistance, but was out for 37 when he slogged a Sachin Baby delivery in the 19th over to the leg side and was caught by Sreenath Aravind.

The Lions' final hope, Shivil Kaushik, fell on the very next ball as he got an edge to midwicket, where Aravind was waiting to end the match.

In a rain-affected second IPL clash on Saturday, the Kolkata Knight Riders cruised to an eight-wicket win over Rising Pune Supergiants via Duckworth-Lewis.

Australia's George Bailey top scored for Pune, reaching 33 in 27 balls before he being stumped off a Piyush Chawla delivery.

Pune were 6-103 when the rain bucketed down, forcing play to be delayed for two hours, and Kolkata were given a revised target of 66 from nine overs.

Despite a poor start, with two wickets lost in consecutive balls from Ravichandran Ashwin in the first over, Kolkata was quickly back on track.

A 15 from Manish Pandey and 37 from Yusuf Pathan ensured a easy win with 24 balls remaining.
