Emergency services were called to Sydney Airport after reports of a fire on board a plane on the tarmac.

Passengers were on board the Virgin Australia plane when fire alarms were set off this morning.

"It is believed passengers are on board the aircraft but no evacuations have taken place," a NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said in a statement.

Airport authorities determined there was no fire inside the flight.

It was then cleared to move through the terminal where passengers disembarked.
