Fire ban stays for SW Vic as heat sticks

The total fire ban in Victoria's southwest will remain in place as the hot weather continues to envelop the state.

Victoria's southwest will remain under total fire ban as the state continues to swelter through a heatwave.

Temperatures on Saturday across Victoria are expected to hit the high 30s and even reach 41C at Casterton in the southwest.

Melbourne is predicted to reach a hot and sunny 37C.

The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a dry and hot Sunday for most of the state too.
