Fire breaks out at Brisbane's XXXX brewery

Firefighters are battling a blaze at the historic XXXX brewery in Brisbane's inner west.

A fire has broken out at the iconic XXXX brewery in inner Brisbane, sending plumes of thick black smoke into the dusk sky.

Firefighters were greeted with the billowing smoke at the Milton brewery after a fire alarm went off about 5pm on Tuesday.

Crews on the scene are trying to enter the building.

Traffic around the brewery is affected, with diversions in place on busy Milton Rd and surrounding streets.
