All trains are running again at a major Sydney CBD train station after a fire broke out.

The blaze, which began in a takeaway food outlet on the concourse at Central Railway Station, has been extinguished and crews are ventilating upper floors, Fire & Rescue NSW tweeted.

About 1000 people had to be evacuated when the fire spread across four levels via ducting. Platforms were temporarily shut down but are operating again, although passengers have been advised to allow extra travel time.
