A fierce fire has burned up more than just the track at a disused indoor go-karting centre in Melbourne's west.
Dozens of firefighters raced to Fun City Go Karts in Sunshine North about 7.30pm on Tuesday after reports of flames.
The Metropolitan Fire Brigade urged nearby residents to take shelter indoors and close their doors and windows as the fire billowed smoke.
About 80 firefighters with 30 fire trucks took more than two hours to control the dramatic blaze.
"It's fair to say that there is a significant amount of damage," an MFB spokeswoman said.
Cherry pickers were used to douse the flames from above in front of onlookers gathered on Ballarat Rd.
Police and ambulance crews also assisted but there were no reports of injuries.
The MFB spokeswoman said the go-karting business was no longer in operation.
"Sunshine Fun City has closed," a press release on the company's website said on April 6.
The fire was in a warehouse complex about 100m long, several stories high and located next to a Harvey Norman store.
Fire investigators will now work to determine the cause of the blaze and the damage bill.
