Fire threat eases in Vic's Gippsland

The fire threat to the West Gippsland towns of Trafalgar and Westbury has been downgraded.

The bushfire threat facing the eastern Victorian towns of Trafalgar and Westbury has eased, authorities say.

The CFA issued an emergency warning for Trafalgar, Trafalgar East and Westbury on Thursday, as a bushfire burned out of control nearby.

The emergency warning was replaced by three watch and act messages on Thursday night.

The CFA says the large bushfire still poses a threat to the towns and advises residents to find shelter outside the danger area.
