Fire threat eases on Vic-SA border

An emergency bushfire warning has been downgraded for the Telopea Downs area on the Victorian-South Australian border.

Authorities have downgraded the threat level for a bushfire in the desert region on the Victorian-South Australian border.

An emergency warning was issued for the area surrounding Telopea Downs on Thursday as a fast-moving, out-of-control bushfire travelled south from within the Big Desert National Park.

The threat was downgraded to a watch and act message late on Thursday.

However, the Department of Environment and Primary Industries said the fire was not yet contained and could again pose a threat to the area on Friday.
