First leaders' debate in Sydney on Friday

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten will hold their first face-to-face debate on Friday night.

It will take the form of a people's forum in the western Sydney electorate of Macquarie held by Liberal Louise Markus, Sky News reports, with the leaders taking questions from audience members.

The event has been organised by Sky News and the Daily Telegraph newspaper and will be broadcast live on Sky.
