Fiskville victims could get compensation

Victoria is looking at how it can develop a compensation scheme for cancer victims from the Fiskville firefighting training centre.

People who developed cancer at Victoria's Fiskville firefighting training centre could get a state government compensation scheme.

An inquiry into the Fiskville centre, which was found to have a cancer cluster, recommended the government develop a compensation scheme for victims.

"The government will consider the many complex issues associated with a redress scheme, including appropriate funding arrangements," a government statement says in response to the inquiry on Thursday.
