With his horrendous injury woes firmly behind him, Australia pace tearaway Pat Cummins is now ready to take the Champions Trophy by storm.

The 24-year-old's career has been blighted by back stress fractures ever since his stunning Test debut in 2011 against South Africa, but now he finally feels he is on the road to fulfilling that rich potential.

Cummins made his return to the Test arena in March against India when he replaced the injured Mitchell Starc for the final two matches.

It was the first time he had appeared in a five-day game since that memorable day in Johannesburg when the Sydneysider took 6-79 to seal a two-wicket win.

After emerging unscathed from the Indian tour and an IPL campaign, Cummins is relishing the prospect of pitches with more assistance for pace bowlers in England.

"I've been playing games for about eight or nine months flat out without really missing a game or being rested," Cummins said.

"I feel like I'm in a really good place and I feel like I've played a lot of cricket. It's been a bit of a dream run which is always what you hope for. So I'm feeling really good."

Cummins bowled well against Sri Lanka in Friday's warm-up match at The Oval finishing with economical figures of 1-47 before scoring the winning runs as Australia chased down 319 for victory.

"I've been bowling on Indian wickets for the last three months so it's nice to have a bit of a change," he said.

"The Oval was a pretty good wicket. It was dry, there wasn't much swing or nip that you sometimes expect over here.

"I love it. It can be unforgiving but I feel like if you bowl well, you're always in the game.

"The two biggest weapons over here are pace, and we're lucky we've got three of four guys in the squad who can bowl quickly, and accuracy is just so important."
