Greater Western Sydney AFLW vice-captain Alicia Eva says they need to improve by just five per cent to turn close losses into wins.
The Giants host Carlton at Sydney's Drummoyne Oval on Friday in a second round clash.
GWS, who won one just one game and tallied only six points last season, came close to knocking off competition fancies Melbourne last weekend.
The Sydney side led for a good portion of the game at Casey Fields and lost by just six points.
"We put in a really good display of footy on the weekend; to be honest we're really shattered that we didn't get the win," Eva said.
"Everyone is expecting us to not do so well against the Victorian teams but we don't put any limit on what we can do and (coach) Alan McConnell has been fantastic.
"There are certainly things from that game that we know we need to improve on.
"If we can improve by five per 'cent, we'll see wins on the scoreboard rather than close losses.
"We need to emphasise as a young group that we don't fear anyone and that's not arrogance.
"That's just us going into the game knowing what we need to do and then hopefully acting on that and getting a win on the board."
Carlton started their campaign with an eight-point win over Collingwood, who they kept to just 14 points.
"We know Carlton are a very good contested side, we've got to expect that they are going to hit hard early," Eva said.
"We can hit just as hard so we'll weather the storm."
The Giants are unbeaten in NSW having defeated Melbourne and drawn with Fremantle in their two 2017 games in Sydney.
Carlton beat GWS by 13 points at Ikon Park in 2017.
