Five planets align in decade first

Stargazers can see five planets - Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn - with the naked eye after their alignment started on Wednesday.

The planets have aligned.

For the first time in a decade, stargazers can spot the five planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn at the same time.

But stargazers will need to get up early, with Associate Professor Charley Lineweaver telling ABC the planets will be best viewed just before sunrise over the next week.
