Four adults and a five-year-old boy have suffered significant burns after a boat went up in flames off Queensland's Stradbroke Island.

A young boy is among five people who have suffered significant burns in fire on a boat off Queensland's South Stradbroke Island.

The speed boat went up in flames near Tipplers Beach around 10am on Sunday.

A five year-old boy, a man and three women have been taken to various hospitals with significant burns.

They reportedly jumped from the vessel when it caught fire close to shore.
