After weeks of damaging floodwaters and heavy rain, the threat of rising waters is still not over for isolated residents in central western NSW.

Major flood warnings are in place for the small towns of Euabalong and Hillston as floodwaters make their way down the swollen Lachlan River.

The weather bureau is predicting moderate flood levels will remain in Forbes and Condobolin until the end of the week, and has forecast rain showers for the start of next week.

Crop farmers are anxiously hoping for blue skies with their biggest event of the year - harvest - only weeks away.
