Other remains have been found near Murphys Creek, at the base of the Toowoomba range.

Flash-flooding smashed into the small community on January 10, sweeping homes off their stumps.

There is media speculation the remains are those of a six-year-old girl missing from her Murphys Creek home.

Detectives and forensic specialists are currently investigating on behalf of the coroner.

The official death toll from Queensland's recent floods stands at 20, with nine missing.
