Flood zones declared natural disaster

The New South Wales government has declared natural disaster zones in flooded regions of the South Coast and the state's far west.

Emergency Services Minister Steve Whan's declared the Bega and Eurobodalla local government areas natural disaster zones after more than 200mm of rain fell on the state's far south coast yesterday causing the Moruya and Bega rivers to overflow.

The same declaration's also been issued for the Central Darling and Cobar shires in the far west which has also been hit by torrential rain and flooding.

Flood warnings remain current for the Moruya and Bega rivers and Mr Whan says the White Cliffs to Wilcannia Road is the worst affected and remains closed.
