Floros to lead Bulls 50-over side

Allrounder Jason Floros will lead Queensland for the first time at next month's domestic one-day cup.

Allrounder Jason Floros will lead a Queensland side that includes Australian representatives Joe Burns and Chris Lynn for next month's domestic one-day Cup.

Floros, 25, will skipper the Bulls for the first time in the tournament, with regular captain Usman Khawaja away in South Africa for the ODI series.

However Canberra-born Floros has been named to lead the side that also includes the likes of Burns, Lynn and former Australian representative Ben Cutting.

"Flo captained the boys well on a few occasions during the pre-season," new coach Phil Jacques said.

"(He) has done some good things in the past in that role for the Queensland Academy of Sport in the Futures League and for Wynnum-Manly in the Premier competition,''

"We're pretty comfortable giving him this responsibility and opportunity.'

Floros missed last year's tournament through injury, but has scored 217 runs in 19 limited-overs matches for Queensland, and taken 13 wickets at an average of 26.61.

Burns, meanwhile, will aim to impress selectors ahead of the opening Test against South Africa in Perth, after being dropped for the final match of the Sri Lankan series.

Lynn will also return after dislocating his shoulder in a training drill in Sri Lanka this month.

Queensland 14-man squad: Jason Floros (capt), Joe Burns, Ben Cutting, Luke Feldman, Cameron Gannon, Peter George, Marnus Labuschagne, Chris Lynn, Michael Neser, Jimmy Peirson, Nathan Reardon, Matthew Renshaw, Mark Steketee, Mitch Swepson.
