Family and friends of slain Queensland teenager Larissa Beilby gathered on Sunday to remember the life of a "funny, gorgeous, smart, cheeky girl".

But in a heartfelt memorial, mourners also demanded justice for the 16-year-old, whose body was found in a barrel south of Brisbane last month.

Larissa's sister Deanna Beilby told the hundreds of attendees the horrific death had left an enormous hole in her heart.

"As a nation, we've been brought together under the most horrific circumstances and I hope we stand together until justice is served," Ms Beilby said, according to the ABC.

"[She was a] funny, gorgeous, smart, cheeky girl ... I will miss everything about you, Riss. My heart is broken. Fly high, angel."

While her brother Nathan Beilby said, "all I can really say is, I love you Larissa, so does everyone here, a lot of people do and always will".
"No words I can say to anyone or about anything will give me the closure I need."

Sixteen white doves were released at the event - one for every year of Larissa's life.

Larissa's body was allegedly found in a barrel in the back of a ute near Logan last month, sparking a manhunt for 34-year-old Zlatko Sikorsky.

Mr Sikorsky was arrested after a 28-hour standoff with police at a Sunshine Coast unit and charged with murder, torture, deprivation of liberty and interfering with a corpse.

Police later charged him with attempting to murder another woman.

His lawyer Brendan Ryan has told reporters Sikorsky intends to defend the charges relating to Larissa's death, suggesting she died as a result of misadventure.
