Footage of Sydney cafe arson attack

Police have released vision of two men breaking into a Maroubra cafe in May, splashing around accelerant and lighting it up.

Two masked arsonists can be seen in newly released CCTV footage forcing their way into an eastern Sydney cafe six months ago and starting a blaze that triggered the evacuation of several units.

Investigators have released security vision of two men sprung inside Maroubra' Nutrition Station cafe about 2am on May 17, shortly before the Anzac Parade business erupted in flames.

The vision released on Thursday shows two men breaking through the cafe's front door with one of them dousing the premises in accelerant and the other setting it alight.

The pair narrowly escape the violent explosion.

About 50 people were evacuated from the multi-storey apartment block above the shop.

Miraculously, nobody was harmed in the fire, and officers are hunting the duo pictured wearing dark hooded jumpers and tracksuit pants.
