The child, known as Aya, was lifted from the debris by members of the Syrian Civil Defence, also known as the White Helmets, after her home was bombed by pro-government forces.

Rescuers can be heard repeating 'God is great’ as the girl is pulled to safety among the slabs of concrete.

Two neighbourhoods surrounding Damascus were targeted in the latest bombardment. The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claims ten people have been wounded.
