Foreign fighters threat increases as IS loses ground

Security experts have warned that the threat from foreign fighters is increasing, as the self-proclaimed Islamic State continues to lose ground in Syria and Iraq.

A report commissioned by think tank the Lowy Institute says a prospective collapse of the group's so-called caliphate has led it to focus on sending its fighters home to carry out attacks.

SBS Reporter Omar Dabbagh asked report co-author, Lydia Khalil, to explain its key findings.
