The former coach and cricket director of English county Worcestershire was recommended to Bangladesh by former South African batsman and coach Gary Kirsten.

The 53-year-old Rhodes, who played 11 tests and nine ODI's for England, said his focus was on preparing Bangladesh for the 2019 World Cup.

"I just told the president and board members that Bangladesh did well in the Champions Trophy in England (last year). To get to a semi-final in that competition was a marvellous effort," Rhodes said.
