Former MP gets Christmas Island role

The federal government has appointed former MP Natasha Griggs, who lost her seat in 2016, as the first female administrator of Christmas and Cocos Islands.

Former Liberal MP Natasha Griggs will become the first female administrator of Christmas and Cocos Islands.

Mrs Griggs, who lost her Northern Territory seat at the 2016 federal election takes over the role from another former Liberal MP Barry Haase.

Territories Minister Fiona Nash said Mrs Griggs had always been a great fighter for her communities and would bring those skills to improving the lives of people living on Christmas and Cocos Islands.
