Former West Australian Premier turned lobbyist Brian Burke has been found guilty on one count of lying to the state's Corruption And Crime Commission.

The prosecutor said Burke had lied to the CCC by claiming he didn't ask a Minister to make an appointment to a government agency of a candidate he put forward.

"You've been a minister six months. This is the first person I've ever recommended to you for appointment anywhere," Burke was recorded saying, reports the ABC

" Mate, it's a done deal," replied Marlborough.

But the 63-year-old was on Thursday acquitted on four other charges in relation to his evidence given to the commission in 2006 over a WA property development.

Burke maintained his evidence was not deliberately false throughout the trial.

In the Perth's Magistrate Court on Thursday, Magistrate Richard Bayley fined Burke $25,000 on the charge.
