The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed an Australian man has been arrested in the United Arab Emirates, but won't say whether it is former Socceroos captain Craig Moore.
Police in the Dubai have told news outlets that Moore was arrested on Wednesday night over an alcohol-related incident that also involved a clash with their officers.
He is reportedly being held in custody until he can face a Dubai court, probably on Friday, Australian time.

A departmental spokesman confirmed a 34-year-old Queenslander was arrested in Dubai on September 15.
"The man remains in detention and has legal representation," he said in a statement.
"Consular officials from the Australian Embassy in Abu Dhabi spoke to the man via telephone on 16 September 2010 and he confirmed his welfare."
Consular staff will visit the man as soon as they can, while officials are assisting his wife in Australia and are in contact with his lawyer, the spokesman said.

Dubai police have told news outlets that Moore was arrested on Wednesday night and was being held in custody until a Dubai court appearance expected on Thursday, local time, Friday Australian time.
During his career, Moore made 52 appearances for the Socceroos including in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup tournaments.
He also captained the A-League's Brisbane Roar and the Scottish Premier League's Rangers FC.
