Former Southern Star Coyte quits cricket

Former Australian women's cricketer Sarah Coyte has retired from all forms of cricket after stepping away from the Southern Stars commitments last year.

Former Southern Stars pace bowler Sarah Coyte has announced her retirement from all forms of cricket, effective immediately.

Coyte, 25, took 100 wickets in all forms of cricket for Australia since her debut in 2010, playing 81 matches in the international Test, one-day and Twenty20 arenas.

However she opted to knock back her Cricket Australia contract last summer as she battled with personal issues, and on Tuesday stood down from South Australian commitments.

"I am going home to Sydney to be close to my family and restore some balance to my life," Coyte said.

"I have been realising lately how much I have missed my family and it is finally time for me to go home.

"I am not going back home to play for New South Wales, I am leaving domestic cricket altogether to refocus on myself and my loved ones."

Coyte was a member of Australia's 2014 World T20-winning squad, claiming figures of 3-16 in the final against England to be player of the match.

She also helped deliver South Australia their first Women's National Cricket League title in 2015-16, in her first season after moving from regular champions NSW.

She has recently dedicated her time to raising awareness of body image problems among elite athletes which she has struggled with throughout her career.
