Former WA premier in bid to visit Nauru

Former WA premier Carmen Lawrence is making a bid to visit Nauru to assess the treatment of asylum seekers.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has no objection to former West Australian premier Carmen Lawrence travelling to Nauru to assess the treatment of asylum seekers.

Professor Lawrence works at the University of Western Australia's psychology school and is a former federal health minister.

It's up to Nauru immigration officials to grant an entry visa.
