Former X Factor contestant Nathaniel O'Brien has died in a car crash in the South Australian countryside.
The 19-year-old who was an X Factor contestant last year, died after crashing into a tree near Burra, in SA's mid-north on Sunday.
He had performed at the Burra Country Music Festival earlier that day and was due to perform at the Tea Tree Gully Hotel that night.
Australian singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte, who was O'Brien's mentor on the reality singing show, tweeted a tribute to the budding artist.
"My heart goes out to Nathaniel O'Brien's family after hearing of his tragic passing. What a spectacular young man with the voice of an angel," she wrote.
