Bruno Fornaroli didn't score in the FFA Cup final but he did everything else, perplexing Sydney FC's makeshift defence all night on the way to winning the Mark Viduka Medal.
The Uruguayan was voted best afield in the showpiece match despite Tim Cahill scoring the game's only goal.
In truth, this was far from Fornaroli's best match for the club.
Fornaroli had scored in each of his visits to AAMI Park this season, boasting nine goals in his last seven visits to the club's home ground coming into the showpiece match.
But a middling game for the fleet-footed street-fighter is better than most others can manage, and the medal found a worthy recipient in the 29-year-old.
The club captain said he hoped this would be the start of a successful era for City, which won its first trophy in seven years.
"This is the first one. We go for more," he said.
He baffled viewers watching the Fox Sports broadcast after finishing his speech on stage, appearing to throw away his reading notes which listed City's lengthy sponsors while screaming a profanity.
But there was no shortage of love for the striker inside AAMI Park, who revere their money man like none other.
Fornaroli becomes the third-straight foreigner to take out the prize.
The previous winners of the Mark Viduka medal were Sergio Cirio (2014 - Adelaide) and Kosta Barbarouses (2015 - Melbourne Victory).
