Four killed in California shooting

A US woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder, after four people were shot dead during a hearing to evict her and her son.

A woman with a gun has killed four people and critically wounded two others at a Native American community in northern California.

Sherie Rhoades, 44, was held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after the shootings Thursday at the Cedarville Rancheria Tribal Office in Alturas, NBC News quoted local police chief Ken Barnes saying.

The shootings occurred during a hearing to evict Rhoades and her son from the Rancheria, NBC said.

Four people were shot dead, while two women were in critical condition.

Alturas is a town of about 2800 in sparsely populated Modoc County, near the Oregon border.
